Roller forming machines use strips of metal to make specific configurations, the most common of which is coiled steel. In most applications, the required cross-sectional profile is designed specifically for machines to bend metals when necessary. In addition to roll forming, these machines perform many metal processing tasks, including material cutting and roll stamping. Most roll forming machines work in continuous cycles. The material is fed into the machine. In each stage of operation, the material enters continuously and the final product is finished.
Working Principle of Roll Forming Machine
The roll forming machine bends the metal at room temperature by using multiple positions, in which the fixed roll guides the metal and bends it as necessary. When the metal strip passes through the roll forming machine, each roller group bends slightly more metal than the previous roller station.
This progressive method of bending metal ensures the correct cross-sectional configuration while maintaining the cross-sectional area of the workpiece. Usually running at speeds of 30 to 600 feet per minute, roll forming machines are a good choice for manufacturing large or very long parts.
Rolling forming machines are also suitable for creating precise parts, which require very little finishing work. In most cases, according to the moulding material, the final product has an excellent finish and very fine details.
Basic Knowledge of Roll Forming Line
The basic roll forming machine has a line that can be divided into four main parts. The first part is the entrance part of the loading material. The material is usually inserted in sheet form or fed from a continuous coil. The next part, the work roll, is the actual position of rolling, the position of the work position, and the position of metal formed in the process. The work roll not only shapes the metal but also is the main driving force of the machine.
The next part of the basic roll forming machine is the cutting-out press, in which the metal is cut to a predetermined length. Because of the speed of the machine and its continuous operation, the cutting technology of flight die is not uncommon. The last part is the exit station. The finished parts are moved manually from the machine outlet to the roller conveyor or operating platform.
